My name is Josh Trathen and I work for Extract Coffee Roasters. I’ve been working in coffee full time for the past 6 years, but it’s been a part of my life since childhood.Coffee for me is about bringing people together, telling an incredible story and offering a unique customer experience.

I’ve always been conscious of how & what I’m doing when making coffee & cocktails. This mindset has led me to discover exciting new ingredients & processes. When I’m not immersed in the world of coffee & cocktails, you can find me jamming out to disco tunes or out & about shooting film photography. I’m thrilled to be sharing the stage with 15 other extremely talented coffee professionals. 

Are there any specific disciplines in the competition that you're particularly excited about?
Signature drink

Describe an innovative coffee creation or technique you use that isn't commonly used or known
Turbo Espresso shots: high dose, high yield, and quick extraction. Still following the key ratio’s but by manipulating grinder setting you can heighten sweetness, fruits & acidity to produce a very clean coffee with next to no bitterness.
