Sonja started her career in management consulting before moving into commodities trading at a large plc. Ten-years ago she took a risk and joined an innovative specialty coffee retail brand, launching in Singapore and London. Sonja joined Well Grounded in 2019, inspired by the organisation’s mission to support Britain’s unemployed to access and thrive in sustainable careers in coffee. Leading the organisation whilst founder Eve Wagg was on maternity leave, she oversaw the launch of the second Well Grounded Academy which opened in King's Cross later that year. Today, Sonja heads up the organisation's commercial strategy as Chief Commercial Officer, growing its coffee bar concept in London and Bristol, working with corporates on spending for the social good, whilst building a talent pipeline from the local community. As a female leader, wife and mother of two, she is passionate about diversity in the workplace and ensuring that women succeed and progress in the industry.
